The Tigers travel to Staffordshire aiming to break their League Cup curse
Hull City are in Staffordshire this evening to take on Stoke City in the Carabao Cup second round, with the club hoping to reach round three for the first time in six years.
Having secured a remarkable victory against Manchester United on the Premier League’s opening day at the weekend, the Tigers will be looking to maintain that positive energy.
The two sides clashed twice during the Championship campaign just gone, with a heated encounter in the Potteries seeing City emerge 2-1 victors, though both organisations received financial penalties for incidents that occurred after the final whistle. Mark Robins’ side had taken all three points at the MKM Stadium on New Year’s Day.
Since that time, their fortunes have diverged significantly, with the Tigers achieving promotion while Stoke have slipped further down the Championship table.
